Full cleanup of ALL accounts is not a solution(and re-add even helps not). I also noticed that some IMAP settings — like the root folder path (e.g. "INBOX") — are not available in the new Outlook, which makes troubleshooting more difficult. In the classic Outlook, I would normally check or adjust these. All default folder will show up as top-level ones and mail will start populating to the Inbox folder. I have several email accounts / IMAP set-up. So looking at my tree of Exchange connectivity diagnostic email accounts one inbox might have 10 mail total and 3 unread form earlier. It's not until I click on that folder I will then see the 10 and 3 and two second later it will sync and new ones will populate. The issue is; just looking at my email accounts and the numbers shown next to the folders I cant tell if there is new mail or not until I click on them.

Chosen solution

So my Junk folders do not have that box checked, but the Inbox doesn't have a box to be be checked - their behavior is the same they are both not syncing, until I manually click on them to force the sync. I have half dozen mail accounts a few microsoft a gamil and some other ones and there is no difference they are all acting the same. These a general steps to check your IMAP settings in any email application. With the help of this, you can also ensure that the server settings are properly configured or not. My accounts in Mail app stopped to sync post update

I am using TB for just three weeks now and I have issues daily disable faulty add-ins in Outlook when sending mail with no attachments the outgoing mail server will time out. Since the sync issue is universal it appears to be a global issue. Perhaps something in TB needs to be tweaked. I have no firewall monitors running during the day that would interfere just the vpn. With that said - the "delayed syncing" issue that I am experiencing is happening on Inbox as well as Junk folders.

It will synchronize deleted items if I delete an item from my phone, but it just wont receive new ones. IMAP accounts should update automatically on send/receive. Otherwise why even have the ability to auto-sync? If I need to click on each folder to force the sync/download from server then auto sync serves no purpose. I deleted the Apple Mail app from the phone, reinstalled from the App Store. It's just a little bit technical, but we have an IMAP proxy that chooses from some different backend IMAP servers. If the user account ends up on an old IMAP server implementation (in that case f.i. a Cyrus imapd 2.4.17), IMAP Client of iOS 18 Mail app doesn't work.

IMAP folder sync issue in the new Outlook (moved emails not syncing to webmail)

If the proxy directs requests to a newer IMAP server implementation (f.i Cyrus imapd 3.6.1), the iOS 18 Mail app works as expected, even the requests are handled by the same IMAP server proxy. Suspect some Apple Dev's have been lazy with some code in IOS18's mail.app and its causing the issue. Decided to just try completely removing my Gmail account, the one that wasn’t syncing with the Mail App after the iOS 18 update. I know this is not very helpful, but we ran into exactly the same issues as you with one of our clients using Outlook 2010/Win7 and Godaddy’s IMAP mail and never truly figured it out.

These methods help you in the synchronization process. If this does not work, you can contact your email provider. After that, it is also important to secure your IMAP folder to prevent this issue from happening in the future. So, properly follow the above steps and backup your data from IMAP folders. I am aware of the difference between Gmail's labels vs. Outlook's folders, but I would expect that Gmail does what is necessary to make the folders appear correct over the IMAP connection to Outlook. For example, if I drag a message from Outlook's All Mail folder to Trash, I see that message disappear from the Inbox folder after a short delay.
