Make sure they are the same if you can’t see them look at the number of stars or dots. Look at the mail server settings boxes for password and port settings they’re the ones you need to delete and reapply. Doing a send and receive manually or waiting on the scheduled send and receive on the client does not update new mail items.

mailbox not updating on IMAP

I have several email accounts / IMAP set-up. So looking at my tree of Fix Outlook and Office 365 Errors 2025 email accounts one inbox might have 10 mail total and 3 unread form earlier. It's not until I click on that folder I will then see the 10 and 3 and two second later it will sync and new ones will populate. The issue is; just looking at my email accounts and the numbers shown next to the folders I cant tell if there is new mail or not until I click on them.

By web app, I mean webmail accessed via Firefox or Chrome for (say) Windows 10, not smartphone app. My comment about 3rd party email -- is a 3rd email app called Email - Edison Mail (from the App Store) I set up my mail accounts in the app and everything works as it should. I’ve tried repairing the data file, removing and re-adding the account, rebooting, re-installing Outlook/Office, running SFC/DISM, all to no avail. Their webmail works fine, and when this account is added to the Windows Mail app, everything works perfectly. One word of warning - you shouldn’t set that interval to more often than maybe every 10 minutes, every 5 would be the absolutel minimum I’d set. If you set too often you run the risk that Outlook could start the next download before finishing the previous download and that could cause duplicate messages and other possible issues.

Just a few seconds after sending, my phone will show that I have a new message on my IMAP, but currently I have been waiting 10 minutes on my Outlook (2 send and receives) and no email listed yet. If an IMAP Inbox isn't displaying new messages as they arrive at the server, but only when the Inbox is selected, there is something wrong with the setup. Run TB in safe mode (hold Shift when you launch TB) and see if it makes any difference. Note also that when you click Get Messages, only the currently selected account is checked; click the drop-down to check a specific account or Get All New Messages (Shift+F5). The setting isn't present for folders that are automatically checked, such as Inbox.

  • The problem can be caused by either improper settings or a damaged send/receive group within Outlook.
  • Microsoft, gmail and other popular accounts should sync automatically, but if they don't, I'm inclined to think it's due to the VPN or a security/antivirus app that is scanning the TB profile folder.
  • I checked on web mail here it is.one account is configured on two computers, one is configured with POP & second is IMAP.
  • Everything works great for the most part, except with our IMAP users.
  • The issue persists with PC connected directly to the internet with no router or firewall in between.

I did see a response from a MS person that said it was working as intended, that it wouldn’t refresh the folder until it was selected. Although that seems like a load of BS, but could just be a con to try to migrate people to exchange at a higher cost. I know that sometimes when doing it, it can take a moment for the rest of the folders to kick back in. Also then you can’t make folders under the Inbox folder, you have to make it in a different folder and drag it out. Mohit is a Microsoft Certified expert for all things Microsoft. IMAP folder sync issue in the new Outlook (moved emails not syncing to webmail)

If I click off of inbox and down to sent item, then click back on inbox, all of the new mail will populate. The problem can be caused by either improper settings or a damaged send/receive group within Outlook. At first, I was thinking it may be an issue with certificates, but it's not... I went to a bunch of online TLS tests and the mail server is fine and the certificates are trusted... So only wait when some "smarties" from apple IT solve problem in app ...
